COVID-19: Assam reports four new deaths and 293 fresh cases

 Assam reported four COVID-19-related deaths on Sunday. 293 people were also positive for the disease, bringing the total state's infected population to 5,88,318, according to the National Health Mission.

Recent fatalities have been reported from the districts of Cachar, Hojai and Kamrup Metropolitan as well as Udalguri.

State's Covid death toll is 5,640.

According to the National Health Mission, 1,347 COVID-19 patients died more than expected. However, the Death Audit Board of the government has not included them in its death toll due to other illnesses.

Assam reported that 293 patients were detected in testing for 39,337 samples. This was 0.74 percent, according to the NHM daily bulletin.

On Saturday, 586 coronavirus-positive cases were reported by the state against testing of 84.785 samples.

At the moment, there are 5,702 cases in the state. They are being treated at various hospitals and Covid Care Centres across the state. Some also receive home isolation.

The highest number of new cases was found in Kamrup Metropolitan, followed by 28 in Jorhat and 23 in Sivasagar, and 21 in Nalbari.

The overall positive rate in Assam is 2.74 percent, compared to total testing of 2,15 07,212 samples.

The Kamrup Metropolitan District, which mainly comprises Guwahati, has reported 1,18,712 COVID-19 cases.

The state reported more recovery than 674 new infections during the day, NHM stated in its daily bulletin.

Assam has 5,75,629 COVID-19 victims who have been discharged from various hospitals and CCCs.

NHM also stated that 1,71,05.307 Covid vaccines were administered. This includes the 1,40,64.179 first doses as well as 30,41.128 second doses.

The number of people who were vaccinated Sunday was 96,593, compared to 2,74,578 Saturday.
