After a two-year delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Jammu chapter was able to elect M K Bhardwaj as its president.
Mohinder Pal Singh (Palli), Surjeet Singh andotra were elected vice president, Aditya Sharma was elected joint secretary, Surjeet Sing Andotra as general secretary, and Amandeep Singh was elected treasurer.
Surinder Singh, the returning officer, announced the results following a nearly 10-hour-long count at the High Court Complex here Sunday night. He said that 15 candidates participated in the contest, four for each of the positions of president or vice president.
The election took place at the High Court Complex on Saturday, and the counting of votes started around 1 PM Sunday.
Surinder Singh stated that 1,413 of the 1,591 members participated in the election to elect the new body.
After his election, Bhardwaj stated to reporters that he and his team would work together for the welfare of lawyers and Jammu residents.
