TN Mega Vax Camp on Sep 12 to Inoculate 10% of Eligible Population

On September 12, a massive Covid-19 vaccination campaign in Tamil Nadu will take place at 10,000 locations. This will be of benefit to 10% of the eligible population.

In a statement, the state health department stated that the vaccination camp was based on the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation (IPPI) model. 36,20,343 people are expected to be vaccinated by the Directorate of Public Health in the mega vaccination camp.

In a statement, the Directorate stated that the Tamil Nadu population was 7.77 million by 2021 and that the eligible population for those over 18 years was 6.06 billion.

A study found that 3,31,848,824 people had been inoculated at government Covid vaccination centers between September 5 and September 5. 2.62,938,892 people were given the first dose, while 68.90,932 received both.

The public health and preventive medicine departments have directed the state's Deputy Directors of Health Services to conduct Covid vaccinations on September 12. They will be at the fixed booths that were already chosen for the program.

There are 40,399 IPPI program booths in the state and another 2,652 booths, which makes it total 43,051 booths.

Ma Subramanian, the Health Minister, has instructed the health department not to focus on high-risk residents in areas like those bordering Kerala. There are high numbers of Covid-19 positive patients.

Also, the vaccine is being given to people who live in remote and hilly areas.

According to the Directorate of Public Health, these booths will be open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. and managed by at least four people. The staff will include one vaccinator, one data entry person and two Anganwadi workers.

IANS was informed by the Minister that the state was embarking on a massive vaccination drive. We will ensure that at most 10% of eligible populations receive at least one dose. I have written to the Union Health Minister asking for a separate allocation of 1 million vaccines for this mega vaccination camp.
