Previous Water Contamination Incident in Raichur

This recent incident follows a similar water contamination episode in Raichur town in June 2022. Three individuals lost their lives, and over 60 people, including 23 children, were hospitalized due to consuming contaminated water at that time. The then Chief Minister, Basavaraj Bommai, had announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each for the families of the deceased. Raichur district, known for its backwardness, continues to face challenges in ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water.

The authorities are actively investigating the current situation in Rekalamaradi village to identify the root cause of the water contamination and take appropriate measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
