Nigerian Gang Busted for Instagram Scam, Cheating Multiple Women of Crores of Rupees


 The Manesar Cyber Police Station has successfully dismantled a Nigerian gang involved in a large-scale cheating operation targeting women on Instagram. The accused, identified as Ebuka Felixi and Chukwaka Ivar, were apprehended in Nilothi, Delhi. They confessed to being part of a five-member gang that specifically targeted women through the popular social media platform. Arrest of Nigerian Gang Members

The Manesar Cyber Police Station's team successfully arrested two individuals, Ebuka Felixi and Chukwaka Ivar, who are part of a Nigerian gang involved in defrauding women on Instagram. The arrests were made in Delhi's Nilothi area on Monday. The police are now intensifying their efforts to apprehend the remaining three members of the gang.

Modus Operandi and Recovered Evidence

During the investigation, it was revealed that the gang members targeted women through Instagram. They gained their trust by befriending them online and subsequently cheated them out of crores of rupees. The police recovered substantial evidence during the arrests, including six chequebooks, 16 passbooks, 25 ATM cards, seven SIM cards, one laptop, seven mobile phones, and Rs 10,000 in cash.

Complaint and Deceptive Relationship

The police were alerted to the gang's activities when a woman filed a complaint on April 10 at the Manesar Cyber Police Station. She reported that her Instagram friend, who claimed to be a UK resident and a pilot in a British airline company, had cheated her out of Rs 1.80 crore. The fraudster lured her into believing he would send her expensive gifts and other items.

Involvement of Additional Gang Members

During the course of the investigation, the arrested Nigerian gang members disclosed the involvement of three women from Mizoram in their criminal activities. These women would join the gang in executing the scams and then return to Mizoram. The police have intensified their search for these women.
