What to expect from the Google Pixel 8a

Citing a Google source, Android Authority has shared the specifications of the Pixel 8a. The mid-range A-series phone is said to receive a display upgrade. While the OLED panel, display resolution, and screen size will remain the same at 6.1 inches, the refresh rate and brightness will be bumped up compared to last year's Pixel 7a. The upcoming smartphone will reportedly offer a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,400 nits peak brightness.

The report also states that Google has increased the corner radius on the Pixel 8a to 128px, up from 47px on the previous model. This is in line with leaked renders that have already given us a glimpse of what to expect in terms of design.

The Pixel 8a will also reportedly come with DisplayPort output, a feature that will be available across the entire Pixel 8 series. The flagship models recently started receiving support for display output.

The upcoming smartphone will be powered by the Tensor G3 chipset, which will also be featured in the non-Pro and Pro models. In terms of the camera setup, there will be no upgrades on the Pixel 8a. It is expected to sport the same camera setup as its predecessor, which includes a 64-megapixel IMX787 camera and a 13-megapixel IMX712 camera.

Finally, the report states that the Pixel 8a will be launched in more regions compared to the limited availability of the Pixel 7a. The regions where the upcoming smartphone will be launched include electronic warranty labels for Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia.
